Get ready to watch the original 1939 film The Wizard of Oz tonight in DTSA on the stret at French Street and Calle Cuatro Plaza, at 7:30 pm, courtesy of the Frida Cinema. The street will be open to guests starting at 6:30 p.m. Bring your own blankets, coolers, and low-back chairs.

If you somehow have never seen the film here is a preview: Judy Garland plays Dorothy Gale, a young Kansas farm girl who, along with her little dog Toto, is swept away by a tornado, only to wake up in a magical, Technicolor wonderland. Joining forces with their new friends the Tin Man, Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion, Dorothy and Toto set off on a journey down the Yellow Brick Road to find the all-powerful Wizard of Oz, defeat the Wicked Witch, and find their way home.

This will be the first of six outdoor screenings which will be presented the Third Thursday of every month from January to June, on Downtown Santa Ana’s French Street and Calle Cuatro Plaza, between 4th and 5th Streets, right around the corner from The Frida. The Classics on French Street is being provided to our community free-of-charge thanks to generous support from the City of Santa Ana and Community Engagement.

Please be sure to RSVP here.

PARKING

Parking is available in the City of Santa Ana’s four-story parking structure located at 300 E. 5th Street. Standard parking rates will apply.

WHAT TO BRING

Bring a blanket, towel, LOW-BACK chair, or anything else you need to get comfy and enjoy a movie under the stars! Picnic baskets and outside food are welcome, though keep in mind that there are several fantastic neighboring restaurants that will be open to get your food needs handled! NOTE: Due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we will not have concessions or vendors present at this first Classics on French Street event, so make sure to bring all your favorite movie-going snacks with you!

WHAT NOT TO BRING

Alcohol and smoking are prohibited. Please be courteous to your fellow audience members — if you are planning to bring chairs, bring LOW-BACK chairs so as to not block the folks behind you.

WHAT TIME TO ARRIVE

The street will be open to guests at 6:30pm, one hour before the film starts!

COVID/MASK POLICY

If you have not been vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, we ask that you protect yourself and those around you by wearing a mask at this event. If you have been vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus, defined as having received the full and final dose of your selected vaccine over two weeks ago, you are not obligated to wear a mask at this outdoor event — though you are welcome and highly encouraged to do so. If you are not feeling well, or have a fever, stay home, rest, and get well!
