Deceased:  Ricardo Arriaga Villegas (29) Santa Ana

On 02/18/15, officers responded to the scene of a single vehicle traffic collision involving a motorcycle near the intersection of Ross Street and Richland Street.

At about 1223 hours, a 2003, Yamaha, R6 motorcycle being ridden by a male adult was traveling west at high speed on Richland approaching the intersection at Ross Street. The rider lost control of the motorcycle in the area of the intersection where it went down on its side. The rider was ejected from the bike as they both continued to slide west on the roadway and came to a stop where the motorcycle struck a parked SUV.

Responding paramedics pronounced the rider deceased at the scene. Witnesses indicated the motorcyclist accelerated west at a high rate of speed and pulled a wheelie east of the intersection at Ross Street. The rider lost control of the bike while riding the wheelie and collided with the roadway surface at the intersection.

The rider, Villegas, was riding his motorcycle on a suspended index number for a prior DUI conviction. Any intoxication level on Villegas will not be known until the Coroner’s report is completed.
