Advisory: Suspect Steals Vehicle With 7 Month Old Child Inside, Officers Locate Vehicle And Child Unharmed

Friday, 10/16/2015, at 11:56 am, the victim called the Santa Ana Police Department to report his vehicle had just been stolen. The victim advised officers while inside a store in the 2500 block of South Main Street, he had left his keys, and his 7 month old child, in the vehicle.

Officers immediately started an area check with the assistance of Anaheim Police Department Air Support “Angel”. At 12:11 pm, a patrol officer who was searching the surrounding neighborhoods located the vehicle abandoned in the 2500 block of South Evergreen with the baby inside. The child was found asleep and sweating. The Officer removed the child from the vehicle and placed him in his police vehicle with the air conditioning on to cool him off. The Orange County Fire Authority was called to the scene and evaluated the child who was found to be unharmed.

  1. So Am I to understand that this child was left in the car while the parents went shopping? I hope they charge the parents with child negligence or something because it sounds like they are also responsible for this child to be taken
