ORANGE COUNTY STUDENTS INVITED TO ENTER AVIATION ART CONTEST

John Wayne Airport Announces its 22nd Annual Student Art Contest

SANTA ANA, Calif. – John Wayne Airport’s 22nd annual Student Art Contest is underway. Orange County students in grades K-12 are encouraged to submit artwork inspired by this year’s theme: “Silent Flight.” Entries should be submitted to any Orange County Public Library Branch or participating city libraries listed below no later than 4 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2011.

The John Wayne Airport Student Art Contest is part of the International Aviation Art Contest. JWA winning entries often go on to compete at State, National and International levels of competition. Artworks that best depict this year’s contest theme are selected for exhibition and prizes.

Winners from two grade categories will be selected this year – kindergarten through 6th grade and 7th through 12th grade – and will be exhibited from December 9, 2011 through January 16, 2012 on the arrival level, adjacent to baggage carousels 1 and 4, of the Thomas F. Riley Terminal.

Each entrant receives a certificate of participation from the Airport and select winners will be awarded prizes donated by sponsors including The Irvine Museum, The Laguna College of Art and Design, Knott’s Berry Farm, Medieval Times, Go Kart World, Bowers Museum, Orange County’s Pacific Symphony and The Santa Ana Zoo.

Interested students can pick up materials at any Orange County Public Library or any library branch in the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Mission Viejo, Newport Beach and Yorba Linda. Entrant information is also available on our website: www.ocair.com/terminal/art.
