Every year, the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Ana sets out to find a well-respected, well-rounded, morally strong, and academically focused Club member to represent the organization as their Youth of the Year.

The stakes were high this year, their panel of judges had to choose only one winner from the five highly qualified teen finalists.

They are proud to announce Daisy Monjaras, a 17-year-old Club member, who has a great moral compass, strong communication skills, and a passionate heart, was selected as this year’s Youth of the Year!

Like many of the youth the Club serves, Daisy comes from a challenging background; with the support of her mother, grandparents, and Club staff, Daisy has learned to handle more responsibility in her daily life, while at the same time taking advantage of many extracurricular activities at the Club. Because of her outstanding application and recommendations, Daisy has received a $10,000 scholarship, that will be divided over her first two years of college, and a new laptop to help her achieve academic goals and put her on the path of a successful future!

In addition to Daisy being named Youth of the Year, their Club also recognized two additional finalists, Hanna Galvin, 17, and Jenny Leal, 17, for their strong moral character, academic excellence, and personal drive; Hanna and Jenny received a $1,500 scholarship and a $3,500 scholarship for their efforts. They are so proud to have these three young women represent their Club and be role models for the younger Members, and they are so excited to announce Daisy as our Youth of the Year!

They would like to thank their teen mentors for their dedication and encouragement in helping their teen Club members succeed. They also want to say how proud they are of all ten applicants for the Youth of the Year Scholarship!
