SANTA ANA, Calif. – A collection of over 140 original illustrations by more than 40 published and award winning illustrators of children’s books are on display at John Wayne Airport now through June 17, 2013. Among the more well-known and award-winning illustrators are Mary GrandPre, Harry Potter books; Robin Preiss Glasser, Fancy Nancy series; Gennady Spirin, member of the Gold Medal Society of Illustrators; along with E.B. “To see through a child’s eyes, to convey a visual message, to create laughter or evoke sadness, to stimulate a spark of inspiration … these are the aspirations of the children’s book illustrator,” said Chemers Gallery owner Karen Raab. “The original illustrations found in this exhibit are those used to create the books we have grown to love.”

Established in 1978, Chemers Gallery has held an annual Children’s Book Illustration Art Show and Book Signing since 1992, inviting five different illustrators to participate each year. Chemers Gallery maintains a vast selection of illustrations throughout the year along with their distinct range of fine and decorative art.

  1. This kind of events are good for children’s, as per now most of the children wants to play on computer or video games, they are least connected to books. If events like this keep on, then via this children will read books, and will have fun. As children like fantasizing storied more than real stories, this is a good way to engage children in books. Illustration on airport is one of the best places where children use to visit with full excitement.
