The SAPD is investigating the death of Louis Justin Diaz (22), a resident of Santa Ana, who was in a fight and then run over by a car Monday night, according to the SAPD.

The incident was reported about 7:10 p.m. at Centennial Park, located at the 3000 block of West Edinger Avenue, according to KTLA.

The police initially responded to a call about a pedestrian who had been the victim of a hit and run. However witnesses told the police investigators that they had seen Diaz involved in a fight with another unidentified person.

Diaz was hit with an unknown object in the upper body, by the suspect, who then ran over him with a car.

The suspect fled in a dark-colored vehicle from the west end of the park, by the riverbed.

Orange County Fire Authority Medics responded, treated and transported the victim to a local trauma center. Doctors declared the victim deceased a short time later.

Police questioned more than 100 people at the soccer fields at the park.

The police have not released a good description of the attacker.

The Santa Ana Police Department Homicide Unit and Collision Investigation Unit are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call SAPD homicide detectives at (714) 245-8390, or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.

Just a few weeks ago a man was beaten up at Centennial Park’s skateboard park. He was beaten so badly that he lost an eye and suffered what might be permanent brain damage.
