SAPD Investigating Auto vs Bicyclist Fatal Collision – Deceased Identified

On 1/25/16, officers responded to the scene of a traffic collision involving a bicyclist and a pick-up truck on 17th Street at the intersection with LaBonita Avenue.

At approximately 6:07pm, a bicyclist was riding from south to north on LaBonita Avenue at the intersection with 17th Street. While crossing 17th Street, he was struck by a Toyota T-100 pick-up truck.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene where he cooperated throughout the investigation. There were no indications the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated or impaired while driving. The driver indicated it was dark and that he did not see the bicyclist until he was directly in front of his truck.
