There is no update yet regarding the young man who was struck by two vehicles on Saturday just past midnight, while he was walking across the street at 3500 W. MacArthur, in Santa Ana.

The boy was from out of town, according to the O.C. Register.

The SAPD responded to the scene and found the victim lying in the roadway, bleeding from the head and not moving.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition with life threatening injuries. As of Sunday morning he is still alive as he is not showing up on the Orange County Coroner’s report.

One of the drivers who hit the victim with his vehicle remained at the scene and provided a statement to SAPD police investigators. The preliminary information indicated that two pedestrians were crossing the intersection of MacArthur Blvd. at the Home Depot driveway diagonally when one of the pedestrians was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on MacArthur Blvd. Moments after the initial collision, the pedestrian was struck a second time by another vehicle traveling westbound, according to the SAPD.

The driver who stayed at the scene assisted with the SAPD’s investigation and he did not display any objective symptoms of impairment.

As has become typical in Santa Ana, the driver of the second vehicle fled from the scene. That vehicle is described as a dark colored SUV.

The collision is currently under investigation by the Santa Ana Police Department – Collision Investigation Unit. Anyone with information about this collision is asked to contact Inv. Hadley at 714-245-8216.
