The O.C. Health Care Agency has finally made COVID-19 case information available by zip code. There are currently 16,854 cases and 366 deaths to date in Orange County as of July 5, with 3,342 cases in Santa Ana and 96 deaths. A total of 663 new cases were reported today as well as 3 new deaths. There are currently 624 victims in local hospitals and 197 of them are in Intensive Care Units. An estimated total of 8,350 patients have recovered.

The California Department of Public Health reported that the state has 216,550 confirmed cases to date. California has 260,155 confirmed cases to date. There have been 6,331 COVID-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic. There have been 4,680,138 tests conducted in California.

Your Actions Save Lives

Every person has a role to play. Protecting yourself and your family comes down to common sense:  

• Staying home except for essential needs/activities following local and state public health guidelines when patronizing approved businesses. To the extent that such sectors are re-opened, Californians may leave their homes to work at, patronize, or otherwise engage with those businesses, establishments or activities.
• Practicing social distancing.
• Wearing a cloth face mask when out in public.
• Washing hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds.
• Avoiding touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
• Covering a cough or sneeze with your sleeve, or disposable tissue. Wash your hands afterward.
• Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
• Staying away from work, school or other people if you become sick with respiratory symptoms like fever and cough.
• Answer the call if a contact tracer from the CA COVID Team or your local health department tries to connect. Contact tracers will connect you to free, confidential testing and other resources, if needed.
• Following guidance from public health officials.

What to Do if You Think You’re Sick

Call ahead: If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough or shortness of breath), call your health care provider before seeking medical care so that appropriate precautions can be taken.
