Early this morning at about 1 a.m., several 911 calls were made to the Santa Ana police department regarding a shooting at 400 South Birch.
Santa Ana briefly turned into a scene from the Mad Max movie on Sunday, at 7:45 p.m., as two vehicles that were traveling north on South Main Street became involved in a road rage incident, according to the SAPD.
The suspect vehicle cut off the victim’s vehicle then proceeded to honk at the victim. The suspect, a male Latino, then pulled up next to the victim’s car and pointed a handgun at him. Continue reading
The victim was walking with several others when a vehicle pulled up alongside them and an unknown suspect fired one shot from a gun. The police do not yet know who the suspect was targeting. Continue reading
Thursday night was a hot one for the SAPD. There were two gang-related fatalities that kept them very busy.
In the first incident, Kevin Sotelo, 24 was riding a bike at the 4000 block of West Hazard Ave., when he was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting. Multiple shots were directed at the unfortunate bicyclist from a vehicle, according to the SAPD.
SAPD police officers responded to the scene of the shooting at approximately 8:38 p.m. Police officers found the victim, Sotelo, at the intersection of Hazard and Morse suffering from several gunshot wounds. Orange County Fire Authority Medics pronounced Sotelo deceased at the scene. Continue reading
Vanessa Elizabeth Rodriguez, a 25-year-old woman, was killed late Wednesday night in a gang-related shooting inside a residential garage behind a Catholic church the west alley of the 700 block of North Lacy Street, according to the O.C. Register.
The SAPD said that two suspects entered an alley, pulled open a garage door and began shooting at the three people inside, hitting all of them, according to ABC News.
The victim was shot inside a single-car garage that had been converted into a living space , at around 11:30 p.m. Continue reading

It has happened again. A young man, Nathan Joe Alfaro, of Westminster, was murdered in Downtown Santa Ana, this time at a concert venue called Underground DTSA, on Thursday night, according to the O.C. Register.
The fight broke out as the second of five punk rock bands scheduled to perform Thursday night was playing. “It was just one psycho dude who started a mosh pit,” musician Laena Geronimo said, according to KTLA. Continue reading

What started out as yet another Santa Ana car theft quickly escalated this afternoon, after several suspects in a stolen car took off when police tried to conduct a traffic stop, at 4:40 p.m. at West 15th and North Durant streets, not far from Willard Elementary School according to the O.C. Register.
When the suspects sped off the police gave chase, to 3rd and Main Streets, where the suspects crashed their stolen Camry into a curb and they may have also hit an electrical box. Continue reading
Friday was another bloody day in Santa Ana as yet another shooting took place. This time a man in his 20’s was shot in the face, at the 3300 block of South Bristol St., according to the O.C. Register.
The victim was found at South Bristol St. and and West MacArthur Blvd. He ended up at a local hospital, in serious condition.
The police were not able to find any witnesses to the shooting but several people heard a gunshot and three males were seen running into a light-colored truck and speeding away going north on Bristol. Continue reading
One of our readers has reported a shooting today, just after 1 p.m., at Broadway and Pine in Santa Ana. That area is just east of Santa Ana High School. There are several SAPD units there apparently looking for suspects as seen in the picture below.
Another shooting was reported late last night at McFadden and Standard, just west of Kennedy Elementary School. A truck was reportedly hit by the bullets. The media did not report that shooting or the one today at Broadway and Pine.

The New Year is barely underway and already we have an armed robbery to report here in Santa Ana. The victim was sitting in his car early this morning when he was robbed by two armed suspects, according to the O.C. Register.
Another day, another drive-by shooting, as a man was injured in an attack the SAPD believes was gang-related, on Thursday night just after 10:15 p.m., according to the O.C. Register.
The drive-by shooting happened at the intersection of South Birch Street and West Chestnut Ave.
