Media Advisory: SAUSD Parent Conference to Provide Valuable Resources for Student Success

SANTA ANA CA- February 15, 2013 – Parents of the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) are invited to attend the 19th Annual Parent Conference on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Valley High School, located at 1801 S. Greenville St., Santa Ana, CA 92704. “It takes a collective effort of everyone in our community to ensure our students are college and career ready and prepared to assume their roles as part of the global citizenry. This conference is one avenue for parents to become engaged in a dialogue on how best to support their children to achieve academic excellence and to be productive in reaching their life-long goals,” said Superintendent Thelma Meléndez de Santa Ana, Ph.D.

The event will feature a host of workshops and seminars, and community resources with a particular emphasis on the District’s focus on superior standards, positive school climate, and successful students. The conference is designed to provide valuable resources to parents that support student success.

This event is free. Registration is encouraged; however, it is not required. Parents may register in advance at the District website at www.sausd.us or by submitting a registration form to their school. Transportation is being provided at selected sites throughout the city and childcare is available for children ages 4 to 10 years old with preregistration. Parents can learn more about these services when they register.

The conference is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Anyone interested in covering this event, please contact Deidra Powell, Chief Communications Officer at (714) 673-4995.
