On Friday, February 12, 2021, the newly seated City Council will meet in a closed session special meeting to develop City Manager performance expectations and discuss future goals and priorities for the City’s chief executive. This session is critical in order to provide guidance and direction to the City Manager so that the Council’s expectations are clearly defined and achievable for organizational success.

In May 2020, the City Council adopted an updated 5-year Strategic Plan to provide a vision for the City’s goals and priorities as required by the City’s Sunshine Ordinance. The Plan was designed as a living and evolving document to ensure that initiatives can be pursued within the constraints of limited municipal resources. As is best practice, the new City Council will take these strategic priorities and update them as necessary as they pertain to the future performance of the City Manager.

The City Manager will return during the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 budget preparation process with a budget that reflects the new Council’s priorities and the performance expectations created during the upcoming session.

The special meeting will begin at 8 a.m. Feb. 12. The agenda will be available at least 24 hours in advance at www.santa-ana.org/cc/city-meetings.
