Why is it that nobody, not even Latin Americans, want to be in Latin America? Could it be that Latin Americans haven’t made a good attempt at establishing functional countries? There are, what, about 20 different nations in that part of the world, and I can’t think of even one that approaches resemblance to a first-world country.

Why don’t Latin Americans just try to make Latin America better, rather than fleeing? It’s abundant in natural resources and has a lot of potential, at least from a geographical standpoint.

We always hear about “Latino Pride,” but how can they be a proud people when 90% of Latin Americans would bail on their own countries at the drop of the hat if they could and go to the U.S. or Canada or Europe or Australia to live?

I know little of Santa Ana’s power structure other than that I detest the current leadership for the most part, so this is an honest inquiry. Who would you back?

Joe,

Two wrongs don’t make a right brother. What Claudio did was unjustified. It was fraud and he ought to be ashamed of himself.

There are a lot of bad apples at City Hall, but there are also a good number of city workers who are trying to make a difference.

Replacing Pulido with another ethically challenged candidate who will do little to bring real change to City Hall is a very bad idea, IMHO.

This is not just about whether Miguel is corrupt. It’s about the prevailing attitude in City Hall that all is fair game in their quest for higher office. I feel as if the Mafia is running City Hall. Every city issue that involves money is scrutinized because many of us no longer trust those making the decisions. It troubles me that I should feel this way about my city that I have for the most part, enjoyed for the past 25 years. We the people deserve better.

I agree with lawyer. I could never understand what Claudia is saying at city council meet or at community meeting or in person. There is no content. There is no public policy. There is nothing. She ahs no redeeming value. BTW, Al is not a bad lawyer. He is often asked to do the impossible and he tries. Some people come to him for legal work to undo things that they should have not done nor that they should expect to get away with. Unfortuantely, as a lawyer you can’t choose your clients. I seen him put the community first before his business.
