PRESS RELEASE/ FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION

On March 25, 2017 at approximately 7:15 p.m., the Fountain Valley Police Department responded to the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Heil Avenue, next to Mile Square Park, regarding a traffic collision involving a Lexus SUV and a motorcyclist.

Officers arrived and found a male motorcyclist with traumatic injuries. Paramedics were summoned to the scene. The paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist, identified as 20 year old Armando Vega Andrade from Santa Ana, deceased at the scene.

Investigation revealed the Lexus SUV was southbound Brookhurst making a U-Turn at Heil. The motorcyclist was traveling northbound Brookhurst and collided into the right side of the Lexus SUV.

The driver of the Lexus SUV stopped after the collision and remained at the scene.

Preliminary investigation showed that the motorcyclist may have been driving at an excessive speed prior to the collision. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
