SANTA ANA POLICE STEP UP DUI ENFORCEMENT
The SAPD will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018 from 9:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. at 2400 W. 5th St.
The primary purpose of a DUI Checkpoint is to deter impaired driving, not to increase arrests. All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers. This DUI / Driver’s License checkpoint is an effort to reduce those tragedies, as well as ensuring drivers have a valid driver’s license. The DMV reports that unlicensed drivers are 4.9 times more likely to cause a fatal crash than a licensed driver. Continue reading→

Janitorial watchdog uncovers massive wage theft at Southern California grocery chain
LOS ANGELES—The state of California has cited and fined Superior Grocers and its janitorial subcontractor for violating a workers’ compensation law and a second investigation into wage theft is ongoing.
Investigators for the Maintenance Cooperation Trust Fund, a janitorial industry watchdog that has found $70 million in unpaid wages in the past 20 years, first uncovered rampant and systemic wage theft at the Southern California grocery chain that has 45 stores. Continue reading→
County of Orange Social Services Agency Warns of Facebook Phishing Scam
Orange County, CA – The County of Orange Social Services Agency (SSA) is warning residents of a phishing scam on Facebook that attempts to obtain cardholder information of CalWORKs, CalFresh, and General Relief clients throughout California.
The California Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) Cardholder Call Center has received complaints that “someone” posted a comment on Facebook advising cardholders to call a scam phone number – (877) 449-7795 – and provide their card number and PIN so that their benefits could be posted right away. Advisory: UPDATE – SUSPECT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
Arrested: Jose Luis Trujillo (45) Santa Ana
Charges: One count of Attempted Murder, Multiple counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Santa Ana PD Homicide Detectives obtained information that suspect Jose Luis Trujillo was at a residence in the City of Garden Grove. Based on the violent nature of suspect Trujillo’s crime, SAPD SWAT was called upon to serve the arrest warrant for the attempted murder and multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon. The Tustin Unified School District will accept transfer requests between Monday, January 22, at 8 a.m. and Friday, February 9, at 3 p.m. from elementary, middle and high school students for the 2018-19 school year.
Transfer requests can be made online from the TUSD website or on paper at TUSD’s Student Services Office. All applications submitted during the transfer period will be processed according to a random and unbiased process based on space availability.
