When I first got the news that Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido had won the Democratic Party of Orange County’s endorsement over challenger Alfredo Amezcua last night the first thing that came to my mind was, how long will it take the unhinged faction in the Amezcua camp to cry foul?  I got my answer, not long at all.

In a comment made last night on Art Pedroza’s post about Pulido getting the endorsement I stated, “I can’t wait to hear how they spin this and claim fraud of some sort.”  Well I could not have been more right on.  The unhinged and unstable Claudio Gallegos wasted no time claiming that the endorsement process was “rigged” by the “Pulido Machine” with help from Florice Hoffman and DPOC Chairman Frank Barbaro.

It now appears that the Liberal OC and Gallegos are on record stating that the Democratic Party of Orange County is a, “Mexican style (or Iranian style) Democracy pure and simple.”  It also appears that in Gallegos warped sense of reality that he sees Barbaro as some sort of third wold dictator, “We don’t need another Porfirio Diaz or Mahmood Ahmadinejad running the Democratic Party.”

Gallegos also chose to use his tantrum to libel organized labor ally Florice Hoffman.  “Endorsement Committee Chair Florice Hoffman decided to give the proverbial middle finger to Democracy and rig the vote for Mayor Pulido…. Porfirio Diaz looked up from hell tonight smiling on Florice Hoffman for her blantant vote rigging for the Mayor.”

This whole incident is a case of deja vu.  All this unhinged lunacy is almost exactly what we saw in regards to the DPOC endorsement of 1st District Supervisorial candidate Hoa Van Tran.  Many of the same folks, including Gallegos and his fellow LibOC blogger Long Beach resident Chris Prevatt made all sorts of wild accusations aimed at Hoa, the party and others.  They claimed that process too was rigged.

Ironically they also attacked Florice Hoffman at that time as well and Prevatt called Teamsters leader Patrick Kelly a “thug” for his support of Hoa.  There seems to be a pattern of behavior here that has become all so predictable.  The Gallegos, Prevatt’s and others in their circle think they should have the run of the DPOC and the political arena in general.  When things fail to go their way, which is most of the time, they become unhinged and begin to throw wild accusations around like frisbee’s.

It appears that Amezcua has no desire to reign these folks in and in fact may even be encouraging their unhinged behavior.  As I have said in previous posts this type of unhinged behavior has no place in the public/political arena.  Gallegos and others in his circle has begun to really act up in quite a disturbing fashion at public events.  This needs to stop.  Amezcua should really counsel them to calm down or cut ties with them altogether.

Mayor Pulido won the endorsement last night and that is the undisputable fact.  The unhinged folks surrounding the Amezcua campaign will do and say anything to try a create some sort of chaos.  Gallegos blog post of this morning is a prime example.  Just imagine we are going have to put up with two more months of this disturbed lunacy.

I just have to wonder, how long before Gallegos and Prevatt accuse Pulido or one of his supporters of trying to run someone off the road as they did with Edgardo Reynoso?  Don’t laugh, with these loons anything is possible.  God help us all.
